My name is Marianne Golding. I was born and raised in France (Sèvres) and received my PhD in French Literature from UCLA in 1997. I have been teaching French at Southern Oregon University ever since. As French is slowly being phased out at my institution, I thought it would be fun to create a website for eager learners of French to get all the tools they need in one place... for free!

These teaching resources were created by Lauren Schaffer, Rosemary Tutland, and myself for first-year college students. They have been adapted for online teaching.

Lauren Schaffer started teaching college French after an extremely successful 30-year career. After creating an immersion program, she then became an award-winning instructor at Ashland high school (OR). When she became my colleague, she convinced me to throw away the textbook we were using, and shared with me a multitude of ressources she had developed. Together, we put together the teaching tools you will find here.

Rosemary Tutland became my colleague after Lauren retired. She enhanced the program Lauren and I had built by adding images to all of our vocabulary lists, as well as a system to check the students' knowledge through PTT clicks! Rosemary has a Masters' degree in French Literature from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and spent 32 years teaching French at the secondary school level in Minnesota and Oregon before joining us at SOU.
